Dear Friends,
Last month you were introduced to a few new ideas… Matching Gifts, Employer
Matching Gift Programs and a challenge/match to all members to get involved
and be part of our first Annual Fundraising Campaign. To help kick off our Annual
Campaign the Loose Center Board of Directors has risen to the challenge! This
dedicated, all volunteer board has pledged to personally give over $17,000 over
the next three years! Thank You! Thank You! This generous pledge
shows the dedication and strong commitment our Board has to the goals and mission
of the Loose Center to provide and coordinate responsive programs and services,
which enhance the dignity, support the independence, and offer stimulating and
meaningful opportunities for adults age 50 and older living in the Southern
Lakes region.
In an effort to help you better understand the Genesee County Senior Millage,
you must remember that it is a senior services millage. The senior centers in
Genesee County receive 41% of the total revenue collected and Loose receives
approximately 3% of that or 3¢ on every dollar collected. The other 59%
of the senior millage goes to help provide many services in our communities,
such as the mobile meal program, senior congregate meals, case coordination/
care management, in home chore/personal care services, legal guardianships,
elder abuse, senior care transportation and respite care.
Tax collections forecasted for the County Senior Millage for the next few years
is poor. The Loose Center is in jeopardy of losing more funding. We have begun
to address this critical issue by introducing to you our Annual Fundraising
Campaign. We are on the right path to ensure the success of this campaign and
we need your continued support!
Together we can make a difference!
